M12 Connector Coding

For factory automation and across sensor and automation applications it is commonplace that the same connector type is used within a close vicinity multiple times for a variety of signal transmissions.

To prevent the mismating of plugs and sockets our industrial connector manufacturers have developed a selection of coding systems.

The most common connector type we offer for this type of environment would be the M12 system which relies on an M12x1.mm thread that secures the mating halves together whilst offering an IP67 environmental seal.    

Examples can be seen between the standard A-code, the B-code (reverse key) for Fieldbus applications such as Profibus and the D and X-code for Ethernet applications;
