The Souriau SMS IP Series is a compact, high-performance rectangular connector system specifically engineered for demanding environments such as onboard railway equipment. Designed around the proven Trim Trio® platform, the series utilises standard Ø1.6 mm contacts to simplify procurement and assembly while maintaining high levels of electrical performance and reliability.
A key feature of the SMS IP Series is its sealed construction, offering ingress protection up to IP66 and IP67 when mated. This makes these Souriau connectors ideally suited for applications exposed to moisture, dust, and harsh environmental conditions. The connectors are supplied with pre-mounted grommets and interfacial seals, ensuring consistent sealing performance without additional assembly steps.
From a performance perspective, the series supports operating voltages up to 500 V and current ratings up to 15 A per contact, while maintaining generous creepage and clearance distances for enhanced electrical safety. The robust thermoplastic housing, combined with a stainless steel latch mechanism, delivers a secure locking system with an audible “click”, ensuring reliable mating even in high-vibration environments.
The SMS IP Series is also designed to meet stringent railway fire, smoke, and safety standards, including EN 45545 compliance, making it suitable for safety-critical applications such as lighting systems, control units, and onboard electronics.
