In brief:
Compact rectangular connector system with industry standard IEC 61076-3-124 latch locking interface.
ix Industrial® connectors are available in 8 & 10 way with a transmission speed of up to 10 Gbit per second (Type-A) and a current carrying capacity of up to 3A per contact (Type-B).
The series caters for cable OD’s of up to 7.2mm, has a wire gauge max. of 22 Awg and is capable of offering IP20 ingress protection in mated state.

Until recently, the epitome for an Ethernet interface in an IP20 environment was the RJ45 connector.
The RJ45 connector is the most widely used in the world however many users have a love-hate relationship with it because of its weak latching levers and occasional contact difficulties.
As devices become smaller, the size of the RJ45 limits the miniaturisation potential and developers have been searching for a smaller and stronger connector and one that can cater for Cat. 6a performance for 1/10 Gbit/s Ethernet at the control level.
